I asked my 90-year old father, Dr. John Earl Seelig, to write a guest blog. Thanks, Dad, for opening up your heart and sharing with our readers.
G L O R Y !
All of us look forward to anniversaries—birthdays, weddings, employment, retirement … Sunday, September 20 I will be observing the fourth anniversary of the death of my wife, Virginia Garrett Seelig. It will be a celebration of a magnificent person whose life was a beacon of light for literally thousands and thousands of people all over the world. Her life lives on.
Early that morning the hospice nurse called me to her bedside. She had been suffering for a long time. As I stood there I realized the end was near, and when I saw her draw her last breath a miracle happened. A great big smile replaced the strain of pain and suffering, and I knew for a fact that she was in the presence of her Lord and that she was experiencing a new beginning about which she had been singing all her life. I could hear her in my mind, “Face to Face with Christ my Savior, face to face what will it be. When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ, who died for me.” I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was able to say, “O that will be Glory,” Only this time she said, “O that IS glory for me.”
O THAT WILL BE
When all my labors and trials are o’er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
When, by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in Heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
Friends will be there I have loved long ago;
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.
