Thanks for wanting to know more ABOUT this blog. We live in a blog-happy world it seems; so I thought I’d give it a try. Much of the encouragement to do this stems from my past year’s postings on Facebook; and much of what you see in this blog are writings and thoughts from the past two years of my personal struggle with cancer. My Facebook Family has been a huge blessing to me lifting me up in prayer. Thousands of people all around the world have prayed, shared scripture, and shared words of encouragement on this long, long journey.
I have served in ministry for forty-four years, most recently as Associate Pastor at Second Baptist Church, Houston. Additionally, I have served on the staffs of Houston’s First Baptist Church, North Phoenix Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church, Little Rock, Arkansas, Houston’s Willow Meadows Baptist Church, and Shearer Hills Baptist Church, San Antonio. Through the years I have also been honored to speak all over the country and in Asia.
Let me take this moment now to express heartfelt thanks to the people of Second Baptist Church, Dr. Young and staff for their grace giving in my life. Without their support, friendship, and encouragement, life would be much harder. To my own dear family, words cannot express my love for them. They cannot give me enough unselfish love in return. And, for sure the ladies of Living Proof Ministries, who daily text and pray words of truth and encouragement into my life.
I have a lot of names and it really doesn’t matter what you call me. You might know me as:
- Papa Steve
- Pops (my son, JM)
- Papa (my grandsons)
- Stevo
- The Commisioner (kids called me Conditioner)
- Pod nah
- Babe (Bo)
- Daddy (Steph)
- Uncle Buck, and . . .
- Hey You!
Believe me when I say, I’ve been called a lot worse than these!
It has been my privilege through these years to share friendship and ministry with Beth Moore, Louie & Shelley Giglio, Point of Grace, Christy & Nathan Nockels, Cynthia Clawson and Ragan Courtney, Voddie Baucham, and many others. Each of them is such a blessing to me. From time to time, you’ll find them “popping in” to speak a word of encouragement and hope to us here.
My prayer is that this blog can serve to bless, encourage, and minister to those that read these words. Share it with your friends, and please give me your comments and feedback. I hope to hear from you.
You know how they say it takes a village to raise a child? Well, it’s taken a few folks to help me get this blog up and running as well. My heartfelt thanks goes to: Holly Smith (Crown Laid Down Designs), Web Design; Jana Drake-Tornga (J&R Celebrations), Graphics/Site Input & Maintenance; Stephanie Seelig Richardson(Fun Fit Mom) & Kimberly Papadakis Clinard, Editorial Contributions; SCS Group, Resources; Michael Trozzo (Bistro Studios), Logo Design; and many other friends and family members who have encouraged me along the way. Thank you! I couldn’t have done it without you.
My lifetime favorite verse: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. “ (John 10:10 NASB)
Oh, I praise, Jesus, for your ability to share God’s love to others. Some people walk through hardships and sufferings alone. They may not have the encouragement a strong family brings. They may have moved and no longer have their church family they once enjoyed. I praise, GOD, for he has never left or forsaken me. I thank, GOD, He brings the right people in my life to renew my strength. I praise, God, He directed me to your ministry. God bless you and your family. HAPPY THANKSGIVING
I love the blog Steve! Thanks for continuing to pour truth into my life – I am blessed by you. Love you and praying for you too!
Loving your blog and love you!
OH, Lord you knew what I meant! Let THIS BLOGSITE by mightily effective for your kingdom!
Stevo,
I’ve only heard the legend of Steve Seelig from Jana for many years. This site has given me a chance to know you, not just your accomplishments, but the psalmist that you are. Like King David, you are real, relatable, if that’s a word. You share your doubts, your fears, your fatigue and then you share the admonition and encouragement God and His servants brought in a way that gives light to the weary traveler. What an encouragement to know that our God is Bigger than our dreams and Much Bigger than our obstacles!!!
I love all the links to friends, restaurants, songs, websites, scriptures. I pray that not just old friends would find this, but that people in need of hope would open it with questions that will find answers. Thank you for letting God use your times of struggles to reveal His tender mercies, new every morning. We used to sing “How Big is God?” I believe your testimonies supply many of the answers to that question. Lord, let Blogsite be mightily used for your Kingdom!
