These last few weeks have included days of highs and lows, great joy and deep distress … extremes.
My favorite verse is John 10:10:
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10:10 NASB)
I am so thankful for life, never more so than in these recent times when I have narrowly survived. I can name the times in the last few years I have cheated death. I’m here! I’m alive! God loves me! Those who know me well know that I love everything about life … movies, sports, theatre, dance, production, singing, golf, skiing, boating, traveling, working, church, friends, food, family, God’s Word, and faith. I cannot get enough time in the day to enjoy life at its fullest. I would have loved 25 hours instead of just 24. At the end of all that, I am filled with so much gratitude for my body and all it does for me daily.
I have never found rest to be an enjoyable use of my time. Too many things to do, too many ideas to explore, too many friends to make, too many laughs to be heard, too many stories to be told, too many plans to make, and then sometimes … too many plans to fulfill.
I am thankful today for plans. Mostly, GOD’s plans. Without HIS plans, mine would have crumbled, failed, dissolved into thin air. I am thankful that the doors that I walked through in this life had been opened by HIM, whether I acknowledged or knew that at the time. I cannot wait to see what HE has in store for me. The answers to all these questions haunt me. Why God? Why me? What next? What do YOU have planned for me?
Nothing is happenstance. HIS plan is perfect. I am thankful today that HE had a plan for me, and that plan IS perfect!
Lord, May I live my life every day in thanks.
Every day is a GIFT!
It’s ThanksLiving
Make a list of those things you are most thankful for. Now, LIVE it with Thanksliving.
I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. (Psalm 118:17 NIV)
