Almost exactly two years ago I was told by the oncologist that I had glioblastoma, grade 4 terminal brain cancer. Within a few short days Bonita and I began getting texts from the ladies at Living Proof Ministry (Beth Moore). Each day we welcomed a scripture, prayer, blessing, insight, and words of encouragement on our phones. The result of these brought tears, added prayer, soul-searching on our part. We were, and continue to be, overwhelmed by these prayers. In fact, Beth and these prayer warriors bound these in a hardback book just for us. Obviously the continuing theme was to bless us in our time of suffering.
SO HERE’S THE DEAL:
Every Monday, I will post an edited prayer taken from those prayers, scriptures, and blessings and place them in this blog. You can find them under the title, “Prayers for the Suffering.” I pray they will bless you deeply.
AND …
You are welcome to use these, pass them on to others, and personally help guide your own ministry. When you use them, you can paraphrase or copy them for a specific use. Better yet, let them lift your own spirit. We all suffer at one time or another, and it seems we are overwhelmed by it in our world these days.
Let us know if these bless you. We would love to have the feedback and stories of how God blesses through prayer!

I was using Google to search about Gods power”big” “large” several months ago. Your blog showed up Biggodbigthings and I was intrigued. I have followed it now since 2014. I can not express the great respect I have for you and your ability to totally allow the Lord to use you in your life! I am humbled to read your Monday prayers. I am striving to be a servant of Christ. As believers we all have times of joy and times of strife. Thank you for reminding me that fear, strife, pain, and trials are times when we draw nearer to God, and that it’s an opportunity to learn more about God’s power and purpose. Blessings and prayers to you and yours!
