Father God, thank You for life and breath and thought and for allowing us some comprehension of who You are. You are beyond us yet one of us in Christ Jesus. How amazing… We worship You and choose to follow You. Thank You for the unchanging nature of who You are. Like David we say, “O God, You are our God; earnestly we seek You.” (Psalm 63:1) If left to ourselves, we have nothing. We seek Your Face and pray Your Spirit would continuously reveal Your steadfast love and assurance that You are always with us. Thank You, Father. We cannot earn Your love; it is a gift. You are not tricky to withhold Your love or retract it. You are a faithful God over all and promise to remember Your covenant. We are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture. (Psalm 100:3) Praise be to God! Our life is now hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3) like a double insulation from the world and its sorrows and pain. Please help us to keep our minds on You and on these truths, Lord. Let it be so!
I lift ________________ to You today and pray for a steadfast, rock-solid faith to endure this trial. Like Job we say, “You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.” (Job 42:2) I pray his/her trust in Your love and sovereignty would stand in spite of others’ unintended comments to the contrary. When well-meaning friends innocently say the wrong thing, I pray _______________can sincerely respond that You are good in spite of the suffering they are going through. When doubts arise (and they will), I pray you would reaffirm and purpose a deep-abiding, wordless trust to grow in him/her. Impart faith! I pray Your Spirit would affirm, confirm and strengthen that trust. Let it be so, Lord!
I pray ___________________ would remain full of faith that You can heal him/her, whether or not You choose to. Like Abraham, let faith arise with full assurance that You can do what You declare. May this life be one of praise when people are watching and when all alone. I pray personal revival would come! I pray his/her prayer life would explode with power to believe You for much! Let it be so, Lord!
And like Paul, I pray ________________ would be able to say, “To live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21) To continue in faith no matter what. To be used of God with other people in the midst of suffering. And to totally trust that this life is but a shadow of the one to come when he/she steps into Heaven. Christ awaits us, and celebration will go on forever. Lord, give us vision for that day. I pray Your peace and presence attend _________________ day by day. You are good, Lord. You are always at work; so please be at work here and now in this life and those around him/her. Let it be so, Lord!
We long for You, Jesus, and in Your Name I pray, amen.
