As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away. (Psalms 90:10 NASB)
My dad, John Earl Seelig who is 90, sent this verse to me recently. This verse had been read to him at church, and it spoke to his heart. There have been some that take these words “fly away” literally, as though we sprout wings when we die, become a bird, and fly away. I have heard some ministers say that this song FLY AWAY is not biblically sound. So, for years that was in the back of my mind when it was chosen to be sung or heard. I used it anyway because it was fun and people loved it. That’s who I am.
At this time in my life, with the miracles I have experienced, I think GOD, the LORD JESUS Himself, could do about anything. Scripture, as I have grown to engulf, soothes the soul, opens the mind, and invigorates the body. The question is: Could God fly us away?
I believe nothing is impossible with God. But, those very words “fly away” are in Psalm 90:14-17. So, whatever means the Lord chooses to use in transporting me to sit next to Him in heaven … my ticket is purchased and ready!
Now, let’s sing it together . . .
“I’ll Fly Away”
I’ll fly away.
To that home on God’s celestial shore,
I’ll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I’ll fly away.
I’ll fly away.
I’ll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I’ll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I’ll fly away.
Have you noticed we’re back with the Facebook sing-a-longs? Every few days I post the lyrics to a song, hymn or chorus for us to sing as a Facebook family! If you and I are not already Facebook friends, look me up, then join us in singing! It’s a lot of FUN!
