I have regularly been visiting M. D. Anderson Cancer Hospital for well over two years now. When you walk through those hallways they are full of people from all around the world . . . many with blank stares, confusion, and shock on their faces. It’s almost overwhelming. But for me, the most emotionally charged is witnessing the many children fighting cancer. Their heads are bald, some with hats, masks, and many clues they are struggling.
I recently have discovered the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Its purpose is to raise support for children who are cancer victims. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to raising funding for the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives.
So, after reading more about this I felt the Lord was prompting me to shave my head in solidarity of support for the thousands and thousands of children dealing with childhood cancer.
There, again, are so many adults with whom I have crossed paths at M. D. Anderson who have lost or shaved their hair as well.
On a personal note: I have lost hair and identified spaces on my head where hair will not grow. There are also spots on my scalp that were damaged during one of my two craniotomies.
I thought to myself: I’M GONNA DO IT!!!
Yep, you guessed it! I did it! I shaved my head in support for children who are battling cancer. This act is in support of the thousands and thousands that have been diagnosed with glioblastoma, brain cancer (GBM). Check out the pics below of my latest look, then see how you can get involved with St. Baldrick’s Foundation at the end of this blog.
