Lord, You are my source. You are my life. You are my everything. I praise You for who You are and for what You do. You are good and right and just and kind and loving and gracious. You are the eternal One, without beginning, without end. You desire good for me, not evil. You bless me with friends and family who model Your love to me. Thank You that I am not alone in my life experience. I have fellowship with You and with your people. Your Spirit binds us together in love (Colossians 3:14).
I am grateful to be part of the True Vine, Jesus. Your life feeds my life in God and causes fruit to grow in me and through me. Thank You that I am declared clean because Your Word lives in me. I trust You, Father, that as You deem necessary and beneficial, I am pruned so that I’ll bear more fruit (John 15:1-3).
Lord, I receive my current condition as a way of being pruned. I do not believe I am suffering as a way of being punished but am being changed to bring You more glory. 1 Peter 4:1 tells me that those who have suffered in the body are done with sin and desire to live the rest of their earthly life for the will of God. Even though I don’t understand why it works this way, I do see myself changing in this season, and I am learning to trust You more and more. I truly want to know You at a deeper level, and I need You now more than I ever have before.
It’s like the disciples said when Jesus asked if they were leaving too: “(Where else) and to whom would we go?” I do not want to go anywhere else. As I abide in You, Jesus, the True Vine, You impart Your life to me. You reveal truth to me. You enable me to do things I could not do, to endure things I could not endure and to be used of You in ways I could never orchestrate (John 15:5). Thank You for the truth of Your Word. Thank You for the hope You give me and the grace You pour on my life. You are my home, Jesus. I choose to abide in You and walk through this life with You. You are my friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). Though I cannot see You now, I feel Your presence and Your Spirit comforts me in my anxious thoughts.
“Praise be to the God and Father of my Lord, Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts me in all my troubles, so that I can comfort those in trouble with the comfort I’ve received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into my life, so also though Him comfort overflows.” (2 Corinthians 1:4,5)
Let it be so, Lord. As I encounter others in difficulty, may I be a vessel of your love and comfort.
I love You, Lord. I love Your Word. I choose Christ again today and am determined to live one day at a time, without worrying about tomorrow. Your grace sustains me now and forever as I cling to You.
In Jesus’ beautiful Name I pray. Amen
