Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for You alone.
Jeremiah 17:14
This weekend has taken me to several gatherings here in Houston: the Passion 2015 Conference in the Toyota Center, with 15,000 students worshipping together (check out the photos below for a few highlights); a beautiful wedding at noon on Saturday; and, a wonderful day of worship at church on Sunday. It’s been an incredibly busy time, and during this time I saw many friends and heard from many Facebook followers.
I can’t begin to imagine how many hundreds and hundreds of people there were who hugged, celebrated, and/or congratulated me about my latest GOOD NEWS in person or by posts these past few days. The celebrants are so key to my healing, because they have encouraged and prayed for me day after day after day. So, when I see them I am reminded of what a key part each of them has played in my healing.
While worshipping at Passion Saturday, Matt Chandler reminded us of our purpose here on earth, moreover our lives each day. His statement was “get over yourselves, it is not about you.” Our purpose here on earth is to celebrate and to praise our God, the Creator of all that we see and all that we cannot see. HE is the reason that we exist, and HE is worthy of our constant praise.
Twice this weekend Psalm 46:10 was highlighted:
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Other translations say it like this:
Be in awe and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted throughout the earth.
Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
NOW WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR?
God has spared my life two times in the past few years: a deadly sepsis (in a coma for weeks and weeks) AND terminal brain cancer for the past 2-1/2 years. Both of those are very deadly. So, it seems that the Lord is not through with me . . . there must be big expectations!
Please join me in the prayer that God will reveal what is yet to come.
“Lord, what would You have me do that I can give glory to You?”
I want to be still … stand in awe … and cease striving— praying to the Lord God Almighty who is, and was, and is to come. HE is worthy of all our praise so HE will be exalted throughout the earth.
