O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You in a dry and weary land where there is no water. (Psalm 63:1)
Lord, this is sometimes how it feels amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We are busy and with a lot of people and suddenly realize we miss the intimacy of sitting quietly with You. Hear our prayer, Lord, and open our hearts to receive from Your Spirit.
Thank You for reviving our souls with Your Life, Your Spirit, Your Truth and Your Word. Your Word is life to Your people and we are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture, praise be to God! (Psalm 100:30) I pray with gratitude that we live in this period of time, on this side of the Cross. We have the Holy Spirit. We have access to the Bible, Your living Word and the freedom to read it whenever, wherever we want to. What a gift ….
I pray for ________________ to be drawn to Your Word more and more during this difficult season. Speak hope. Speak peace. Speak tenderly through these holy scriptures. Surprise him/her with the timing of devotionals that bring forth wisdom to questions and concerns of theirs. Please cause verses to jump out and shout of Your love and Your protection. Father, I pray You would show off for ___________________ to speak a “now” word that ministers deeply. Thank You that You desire intimacy; You are not a far-off God who is too busy. You are able to tend to each one of us in personal, one-on-one ways. All praise to You, God. Thank You for loving us as a perfect Father.
You are the gardener, Father God, so please carefully prune us according to Your will. Thank You that though it’s painful at times, these prunings are for us. You are always for us. Help us be patient to understand that they actually cause more growth and better fruit. (John 15:1,2) Keep us connected to the vine so our souls will remain green and full of life. I also pray Your words would fall on good soil in ___________________. May they take root and grow and bear fruit that lasts in Jesus’ Name. Rebuke the enemy from choking the seed with thorns and weeds. (Matthew 13)
I thank You, Jesus, that You invite the weary and burdened to come to You. You promise to give rest in return. Please do that today for ______________. You promise that Your yoke is easy, good and gentle. Be the strength he/she needs to bear his/her burdens along with You. You bear much of it so we don’t have to by ourselves. (Matthew 11:28) Lord, it seems that people who’ve experienced some suffering and heartache have deeper and more compassionate souls. Open our hearts to embrace others in their suffering, and may the comfort we’ve received from You become comfort to someone else. (2 Corinthians 1:4)
Give _______________ voice to sincerely testify of Your faithfulness to others. Please purpose people to come along who need his/her testimony to increase their own faith. I pray for meaningful conversations to arise amidst friends, family and strangers alike. Thank You, Father, that we don’t have to be theologians; we simply tell of Your awesome goodness and share our experiences. Your Spirit is the One who does the work. Since we live by the Spirit, help us all to keep in step with Your Spirit and join that work. (Galatians 5:25)
You alone are the One true God. For from You and through You and back to You are all things. (Romans 11:36) We love You and want to know and love You more. Draw us in closer, sweet Jesus. You told Your disciples that if they saw You, they’d seen the Father. (John 14:9) And although we haven’t seen You in the physical yet, we recommit our trust and faith in You and believe You are returning soon. Please be so near, so real. Come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. (Revelation 22:20,21)
In the precious name of Jesus we make our requests known. Amen
