A number of years ago, after seeing a large group of believers put together a YouTube sensation called Sunday Resurrection Dance, I was moved beyond description.
It blessed me so much and challenged me, “If they can do something so powerful, then why can’t we do something here in Houston at our church?” So, we put our thoughts together and came up with “Dance Your Shoes Off.” My friend Cliff Young, was the one with the idea. He’s amazingly creative and sensitive to people in need. It was his idea to distribute the shoes to local missions and some of the mission sights in our radar where a huge impact would be felt. Friend Josh Moore wrote the song “Rise Up” with Lauren Camey recording the vocals. So we got the people together to choreograph the song. Amy Mire, Sarah Stanley, Ashley Stevens and Kristy Holidy taught the song. We then had rehearsals and created DVDs for teaching the dance. To God be the glory, over two thousand gathered on the field in downtown Houston and danced our shoes off for the needy. It was a holy experience … indescribable!
It was immediately edited and posted on YouTube that Easter Week. The rest is a glorious history and world impact. Already almost one and one half million have watched the YouTube link (not to speak of the additional millions by way of Godtube, GodVine, and other internet providers. We were blown away by the response.
THE REST OF THE STORY
A few months ago we were contacted by a group in Mumbai, India, who wanted to use the song “RiseUp” for their Easter celebration this year. So, they learned the dance and posted their version of RiseUp just a few weeks ago on YouTube for Easter Week.
I know I cried through a box of Kleenex it was so moving. Bless all those who have danced unto the Lord! Pray with me that our big God has even bigger things ahead for us all.

ONE MORE BONUS!!
The next year after Dance Your Shoes Off Houston, we got over 1500 kids to offer their gifts, talent, and shoes to those in need. So we recorded the dance on Palm Saturday in front of City Hall. It was outstanding. These little witnesses will NEVER FORGET this experience. Praise Him! Check it out!
