There is a “moment” in scripture that was recorded in several verses. When I say moment, I mean that what happened could have only taken one moment or less in time. A moment? What life changing phenomenon can happen in one moment? But the Lord stopped, embraced, and acknowledged that moment.
By now, if you know the scripture, you know that I am referring to the account in Matthew 9 where a woman in the crowd touched Jesus’ garment hoping to be healed of the hemorrhaging situation she had been dealing with for years. She had faith that the Lord could heal her by only a touch … a moment of seeking His face. Jesus recognized her faith and she was healed. Now, that’s a miracle!
I experience healing miracles every day, we all do. We have all had a cut, a scrape, a broken bone, and we have seen the wonder as our bodies heal those areas. Normally, it doesn’t take a moment, but with proper care, the miracle of healing begins to take place and our bodies transform themselves into God’s miracle with very little thought from us.
I recently had hip surgery. There were months of agonizing pain that I would call a 10+ when asked. The doctors would look at the X-ray and say ” You must be in horrific pain.” I would look at them and say “unbearable.” My face showed it, my mind showed it, and my soul was hanging on by my fingers to say the least. I laughingly would say that I was on the “Job journey,” but it was debilitating pain.
Doctors say that hip surgery is like antibiotics, they know it works. I found this to be true, because in the moment that I woke up the pain from the hip was gone. The pain from the surgery was still there, but the hip pain was gone. It had been replaced, reworked, and it had been healed. Now, that’s a miracle!
The miracle of His healing touch is not only about the body, but it is also about the soul. It only takes a moment to be healed. Healed from brokenness, healed from solitude, healed from the sin that can waste a life.
Jesus pointed out to the woman in the crowd that it was her faith that made her well. Faith that Jesus was the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to our Father God but through Him. It only takes a moment. A moment that can turn pain into healing. A moment that can heal a life!
“And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; for she was saying to herself, ‘If I only touch His garment, I will get well.’ But Jesus turning and seeing her said, ‘Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.’ At once the woman was made well.” (Matthew 9:20-22 NASB)
HE TOUCHED ME
Shackled by a heavy burden
‘Neath a load of guilt and shame
Then the hand of Jesus touched me
And now I am no longer the same.
He touched me, oh He touched me
And oh the joy that floods my soul
Something happened and now I know
He touched me and made me whole.
Since I met this blessed Savior
Since He cleansed and made me whole
I will never cease to praise Him
I’ll shout it while eternity rolls.
He touched me, oh He touched me
And oh the joy that floods my soul
Something happened and now I know
He touched me and made me whole…
