I took this picture from a window looking outside in Vail, CO. There is not a time in my life that I have not been thrilled when I looked at a rainbow. Not only are they beautiful, but they are a reminder that God keeps His promises to His people. Promise. The word barely comes out of my mouth, and I am reminded of the song that the kids played over and over in the car (probably in these very mountains) called “I Am A Promise.”
I am a promise
I am a possibility
I am a promise with a capital “P”
I am a great big bundle of potentiality
And I am learnin’ to hear God’s voice
And I am tryin’ to make the right choice
I am a promise to be anything God wants me to be.
I can go anywhere that He wants me to go
I can be anything He wants me to be
I can climb the high mountains
I can cross the wide sea
I’m a great big promise you see!
I am a promise
I am a possibility
I am a promise with a capital “P”
I am a great big bundle of potentiality
And I am learnin’ to hear God’s voice
And I am tryin’ to make the right choice
I am a promise to be anything God wants me to be
Anything God wants me to be!
Evidently, this song resurfaced with Veggie Tales, so now we can ALL sing along. There is not an age that God’s possibility is not present. We are all still in the process of being molded into what God wants us to be, at all ages and at many different times of life.
This morning, I listened to Louie Giglio speak on The Comeback: Paradise in a Garbage Dump. That is just how I feel sometimes, that I am in a garbage dump. The question keeps coming back, “How did I get here?” Then, GOD proves over and over through the day that HE is still here and turns my darkness into light. I am not walking through this journey alone, and I hope and pray you are not walking alone either.
Listen to Louie’s message here:
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23 NASB)
And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26 NASB)
But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” (Luke 18:27 NASB)
