We have been spending some time in Colorado with our family. Both Stephanie and John Mark have moved here with their families, so we come up here in the high altitude to visit. Since we have been here, it has rained, snowed several times, and today it is a beautiful 72 degrees. Constantly changing temperatures. Constantly changing days. We dress for the unexpected each day.
It reminds me of my illness and the illnesses of dear friends so very dear to us at this very moment. Each day is both changing and a challenge. Each day is a fight for some kind of normalcy. Bonita and I have learned to expect the unexpected, and we ready ourselves daily for changes that can cause all kinds of havoc in our daily lives.
This is life. Life is unexpected. We, as Christians, are not promised life without heartache, without disappointments, or without the ups and downs each day brings. But, we are promised that GOD himself will never be the one who changes. We might walk away, but HE never will. We might feel despair, but He never does. We might falter, but HE will lend a helping hand.
The scripture tells us that HE will never allow us to walk through the depths of despair that we cannot handle, and we have found this to be true. HE surprises us with the best of things, and more than we know we need.
God does not change like the weather or like life itself. HE is the constant amid this storm and the others that follow. HE is the lifter of our heads and the song that sings over us when we sleep. Life has changed, but HE has not.
Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven’s lights. Unlike them, He never changes or casts shifting shadows. (James 1:17).
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 MSG)
PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!
I continue to covet your prayers for healing. My hip is slowly recovering and my right leg slowly gains strength. Not to mention the cloud of brain cancer that remains.
