Framed needlepoint hanging by my bed over the medicine table
I wanted to take a picture of this wall hanging next to my bed. I hadn’t even noticed before that it hung over my medicine table, and I might add my meds are many. Bonita has also posted many scriptures on the walls around my bed and in the bathroom for blessing and encouragement. It has become a holy place. It’s where she sits next to me every morning for our prayer time.
Many years ago, my mother needlepointed what you see from Proverbs 17:22. She spent hour upon hour needlepointing this important scripture. A merry heart was important to her because humor was part of her heritage. All of her brothers and sisters were funny, and they passed that humor down to some of their kids. I have been known to be funny at times myself, and my brother is stinking hilarious.
My mother lived a joyous life. In fact, she was the funniest person I ever knew. So, in many ways, this phrase was her legacy to me. I always felt better after spending time with my mom in her best days … good medicine. She was a funny lady! Growing up we laughed, sang, teased, and told hilarious stories. I pray my children feel they grew up in a happy, joyous home in my best days where laughter was abundant … good medicine.
