HAVE YOU MISSED ME?
What up FB Family Worshippers?????
Since this is called “Status Update,” please allow me to update you briefly (actually not so briefly) on what’s been going on … my status update. Hope you don’t mind.
On Friday morning we had a wonderful celebration with precious friends at MD Anderson where I had my final radiation treatment at the six weeks marker. I rang the bell in honor of that accomplishment and hopefully the Lord was glorified in it all. (Click this link to see The Ringing of the Bell) I loved having special friends there that have prayed so diligently, including Second Baptist staff, especially Teamkid family that I love so much and miss deeply. Plus, the ladies of Living Proof Ministries were there in spirit and enthusiasm. Love them. Love them. Love them.
We had been encouraged to get out of town and find a place to rest on Friday. We flew that afternoon to Albuquerque/Santa Fe to spend some days of recovery and rest. My son, John Mark and his wonderful wife, Laura, picked us up and took us to the hotel in Santa Fe. We love that place.
Unfortunately my body was still overwhelmed by the radiation and chemo. Santa Fe was colder than we had anticipated and the elevation higher than we had remembered. We were forced to return to Houston earlier than planned because of my health issues. Bummer. It was a sweet time, but we probably should not have gone. There are so many things about this cancer that come up unexpected, and the changes in my body are extreme.
We are now in Houston beginning a recovery time without radiation and chemo for now, but we are looking toward a big day, November 20, when I will have an MRI to determine whether much of the cancer has returned and if the cancer that has been dormant has revisited. Pray, pray, pray!!!
It’s a rough journey we are on now, so your prayers are critical to my healing. Lots of pain right now.
The one constant in all of this is God’s presence on every turn. He continues to reveal Himself through prayer, the beauty of His creation we witnessed in New Mexico, friends encouragement, peaceful times, and more.
Hopefully, you have continued worshipping on your own, even without my FB nudges. I will continue to post some songs for us to sing together in days to come. Obviously, some of them will be repeats, but that is good.
Start with this one today and we’ll pick back up daily this week. Blessings to you, and thanks again for the amazing support you are providing.
Sing this one with me:
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
The King of creation
O my soul, praise Him
For He is thy health and salvation
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near
Praise Him in glad adoration
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him
All that hath life and breath
Come now with praises before Him
Let the ‘amen’ sound from His people again
Gladly for aye we adore Him
Praise Him today for He is Good!!!!!!!
