While growing up, this song was one of the standard “invitation songs” at the end of most worship services I attended. Therefore, I learned every word because we sang it so much. But never did I consider the importance of those lyrics until this latest season of cancer. I’ve learned that the days will be darker, the anxiousness greater, and the uncertainty stronger. I MUST allow these words to guide me each and every day.
So friends, join me in singing this song today … not as an invitation to walk the aisle, but to walk your road with assurance that Christ will be walking by your side all the time because He loves you so …
WHEREVER HE LEADS I’LL GO
“Take up thy cross and follow Me,”
I heard my Master say;
“I gave My life to ransom thee,
Surrender your all today.”
Chorus
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so,
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
He drew me closer to His side,
I sought His will to know;
And in that will I now abide,
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
Chorus
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so,
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
It may be through the shadows dim
Or o’er the stormy sea:
I take my cross and follow Him,
Wherever He leadeth me.
Chorus
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so,
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
My heart, my life, my all I bring
To Christ who loves me so;
He is my Master, Lord, and King
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
Chorus
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
Wherever He leads I’ll go,
I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so,
Wherever He leads I’ll go.
