The sweet young technicians that deliver the radiation therapy each day at MDAnderson are so very kind. They have just the right spirit to encourage someone that is facing their mortality, terminal cancer, and all the anxiety that goes with the procedure itself. I hate being locked down to that table and then zapped with some sort of laser ray. It’s incredibly stressful. Even the anti-anxiety pills don’t seem to help my claustrophobia. Now seriously, it shouldn’t freak me out since I am The Commissioner. I’ve experienced worse.
On the first visit, they asked me what kind of music I wanted to listen to. There were many options, but I told them I would love to hear Contemporary Christian music. And what a joy it has been to hear familiar songs sung by some of my best friends. It’s a huge blessing, but unfortunately it doesn’t calm my nerves too much.
Just yesterday the song by Casting Crowns began to play and what a huge blessing it was for me. The song is “Praise You In This Storm” … huge powerboost! If you know it, sing along with me or go find it on YouTube or Itunes. Good stuff!!!
PRAISE YOU IN THIS STORM
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say, Amen and it’s still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain, “I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls I raise my hands
And praise the God who gives and takes away
And I’ll praise You in this storm and I will lift my hands
For You are who You are no matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried You hold in Your hand
You never left my side and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry, You raised me up again
But my strength is almost gone
How can I carry on if I can’t find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain, “I’m with you”
And as You mercy falls I raise my hands
And praise the God who gives and takes away
And I’ll praise You in this storm and I will lift my hands
For You are who You are no matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried You hold in Your hand
You never left my side and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
And I’ll praise You in this storm and I will lift my hands
For You are who You are no matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried You hold in Your hand
You never left my side and though my heart is torn …
I will praise You in this storm
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
